Puer Tea
Challenge
How to create an identity and packaging design inspired by traditional Chinese culture?
Target audience
Environmentally conscious and seeks high-quality organic tea. They value the ritual of preparing tea properly and take the time to enjoy the experience fully.
Solution
I drew inspiration from traditional Chinese elements to create the graphic elements for the tea packaging. These include patterns commonly seen during the Chinese New Year festival, the Great Wall of China, and a blend of dragon scales and mountain motifs. In Chinese culture, dragons symbolize power, strength, and luck—qualities I want the tea to convey to buyers. The dragon is the centerpiece of the logo, and I experimented with its form, even illustrating the tail holding a teacup to enhance the brand identity.
Dark colors, associated with premium quality and exclusivity, will serve as the base for the packaging. All graphic elements will be hand-drawn, giving the packaging a crafted, artisanal feel that reflects the care and time invested in producing the tea. Each package will include instructions on how to brew the tea properly, allowing customers to fully experience and appreciate Chinese tea culture.
